Union officials from Unite, have alerted us that they are proceeding ahead with strike action at Stagecoach Yorkshire from Monday November 23rd and for the next 2 consecutive Mondays beyond this date (November 30th & December 7th). This follows a work to rule act, which came into effect last week. The majority of Stagecoach services will be running as normal between 7am and 6pm on the three days, November 23rd, November 30th and December 7th. All school services will operate as usual if the strikes go ahead in Barnsley, Rotherham and the Dearne Valley and Doncaster. Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach Yorkshire said: “It is very unfortunate that we have not been able to reach an agreement after many months of negotiation. We have made several pay offers all of which have involved rises well in excess of inflation. The most recent pay offer was recommended for acceptance by the trade union. “We will be working extremely hard to ensure that the majority of passengers are not affected by the strike action. Our priority is to provide customers with a near normal service and we will be drafting in drivers from other areas, plus managers to make sure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.” A special £1 flat single fare for adults will apply on these dates. Megarider tickets, child and pensioners free passes will be accepted as normal. Stagecoach buses in Sheffield and those operated by Stagecoach East Midlands in south Rotherham and Doncaster will run as normal and are unaffected by the industrial action. |
