South Yorkshire Transport | News // Stagecoach EM strike action averted!

A planned 24 hour bus strike by almost 200 Stagecoach East Midlands drivers has been averted at the 11th hour and services will now operate normally by Stagecoach. The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) was to stage the strike this Monday over pay and conditions, along with a week long ban on overtime.

The strike action was due to come into effect from 00:01 on Monday 24th August and remain in effect for 24 hours until 00:01 on Tuesday 25th August, along with a week long ban on working overtime.

The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers said the drivers at the Mansfield and Worksop depots had planned to walk out on Monday.

This news means that Stagecoach East Midlands bus services will run as normal this Monday and no further strikes are planned at present, due to a deal been struck between management and the union late on Wednesday evening.

Managing director Stagecoach East Midlands Gary Nolan said he was pleased the union had suspended the planned strike action.

"We are pleased that our passengers can therefore expect their normal bus services to operate and do not face being inconvenienced," he said.
