Rotherham council axes free parking | July 23rd 2010
Rotherham council is to axe free parking and swimming schemes after losing a £3m government grant. The council, which met on Wednesday to discuss the withdrawal of the grant, said it had been left to "take some difficult choices". This will affect all car parks within the town centre.

Multi-Million Pound Renaissance for First | July 19th 2010
First, Doncasters biggest bus operator, is introducing a multi million pound renaissance for its services in Doncaster. From August 1 2010, all First services in Doncaster will offer customers a new, high standard across the network, including every bus providing low-floor easy access and being fitted with CCTV.

Stagecoach restores bus link in Sheffield | July 16th 2010
An important Sheffield bus service targeted for withdrawal from next month is to be kept on the road by leading operator Stagecoach Yorkshire. The number 78, which links Chapeltown with the city centre and is used by many people every week, will be kept on running - thanks to Stagecoach Yorkshire.

First announce radical bus blueprint | March 24th 2010
A proposal called ‘Better Buses for Sheffield’ has been put by First to Sheffield City Council and South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority (ITA). It says it “highlights how First plans to further improve bus services” and “offers an alternative to the Quality Contract option currently being pursued.”

Stagecoach presents radical bus blueprint | March 24th 2010
Stagecoach today proposed a radical strategy to revitalise bus services for passengers and improve the local environment in Sheffield over the next decade. The three-phase plan centres on a public-private partnership between bus operators, South Yorkshire PTE and Sheffield City Council.

SYITA calls for more regulation of buses | March 14th 2010
Greater regulation of the bus market is needed in order to deliver the best services for passengers, South Yorkshire Integrated Transport Authority has told the Competition Commission. SYITA argues that bus deregulation has failed to deliver the standards of service that South Yorkshire people deserve.
