About South Yorkshire Transport...

South Yorkshire Transport was first launches as a transport forum for the South Yorkshire area on 7 February 2006. This was formally under the name of Travel South Yorkshire Forum, however this was changed on 1 May 2008 to South Yorkshire Transport Forum to reflect the new re-launched group websites and also avoid any conflict with the now registered Travel South Yorkshire brand by South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive in late 2006.

The forum exists so that like minded people who share an enthusiasm and passions within the transport industry locally within South Yorkshire (Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield) can share their news and views on any related transport subject. This is regardless whether the members are enthusiasts, general members of the public, passengers or those who work within the local or national transport industry for the various companies. The forum therefore provides a great resource in terms of detail, news and views regarding the local transport industry both within South Yorkshire and also further a field.

In late October 2007 we launched the new South Yorkshire Transport Fleetlists website (formally Travel South Yorkshire Fleetlists), which provides fleetlists for all major bus operators in the South Yorkshire area. This was further amended in May 2008 when the website underwent a refurbishment and a name change as detailed above.

In May 2008, the forum had undergone major changes with it being re-titled South Yorkshire Transport Forum (formally Travel South Yorkshire Forum) along with a new look. The forum was also closed to public viewing, with only members being able to see the message boards

In November 2008 we appointed a new Staff Member to the forum - Dougie. This member was appointed to the staff team to help moderate and maintain the forum as it continues to grow a a phenomenal rate.

In September 2011 the various websites under the South Yorkshire Transport brand were all extensively re-designed and underwent a refresh to update the look, style and operation of the websites. The website was simplified with the removal of many former pages, mainly to limit size and de-clutter the servers.

Our most successful month since our records back back in February 2006 was February 2009 with over 16,000 people accessing our forum. That's an astonishing 571 people on average logging on to the forum each day.
